The NE-CHPS Criteria is a regional guideline based on the pioneering Collaborative for High Performance Schools’ school design guide. It was developed with input from regional stakeholders, including architects, engineers, state agencies, state departments of education from across New England, to mirror the climate, building codes, and educational priorities of the Northeast. It is used by the majority of these states as a standard for school construction funding. Schools in Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Rhode Island are eligible to use NE-CHPS.
Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships (NEEP) led the development of the CHPS Criteria for Northeast schools and provides education and outreach to school districts and design firms on high performance school building.
