Session Title: How Sustainability is Driving Innovation in the 21st Century Schools
Special Invitation: Superintendents, Financial Officers, Curriculum and Instruction Leaders; Facilities/Sustainability Officers, School Board Members
Session Description: Leading educators are making a commitment to educating their students for a sustainable future and operating their school districts as if the future mattered. This special session will highlight school and district initiatives that demonstrate how sustainability can expand our conversation about 21st century education to become the driver of innovation in K-12 education.
Learn how educators are looking beyond current models of education management practices to successful corporate sustainability leadership. GSNN and their partners will share management practices that engage faculty, staff, and students in problem solving, systems thinking, deep conceptual understanding, creativity, and innovation to implement sustainability initiatives across all sectors of the school system, including:
- Sustainable facilities design, operation, and management that reduces environmental impact and operating costs.
- Buildings and programs that enhance the health and well-being of those who work and learn in schools.
- Curriculum and culture that equip students with critical thinking and civic engagement skills through a deepening understanding of the interdependence of economic; ecological; and social well-being.
