CHPS to host webinar on new Minor Renovations Program

The Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) is hosting a free webinar to introduce its new Minor Renovations Program..

We hope you’ll join us for this virtual event on Wednesday, August 9, from 3-4 EST to help launch this transformative program designed to give schools equitable access to school buildings that offer healthy learning environments.

Stepping Up

For 20 years, CHPS has developed and maintained the nation’s only third-party building standard explicitly designed and exclusively for K-12 schools grounded in student performance. This new program will be an iteration of the current CHPS criteria and developed by selecting and adapting existing CHPS prerequisites and credits for individual building renovation and modernization projects.

CHPS will rely upon a cohort of industry experts and founding members, including building scientists, health and safety representatives, leading manufacturers, consultants, service providers, architects, engineers, educators, utilities, and school districts personnel. Together, the experts will define the criteria and launch our pilot program, starting with three project categories (lighting, HVAC, and flooring) that are proven to yield the most positive outcomes on students' indoor environmental benefits including improved air quality, lighting quality, and thermal comfort.

We have confirmation from two of the country's largest school districts, Los Angeles Unified School District and Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District (Texas), that they will participate in the development of this program, and we are actively seeking others as well.

Ultimately, our goal is to scale this project far beyond these initial pilots, serving an urgent and unmet need nationwide!
