Project Reviewer
As a Project Reviewer, Mikayla brings to CHPS her interdisciplinary background in Design and Human health. She obtained her bachelor's degree in Pre-Professional Health Sciences from the University of Southern Maine in 2018, with minors in Honors Studies and Anthropology. Later, in 2022, she graduated from the Master of Design Studies, Design for Human Health program at The Boston Architectural College. This diverse background allows her to approach school environments in a unique way–balancing design, occupancy health, and sustainability. Mikayla received a commendation for Masters Thesis Excellence for her thesis, “Student-Centered Holistic Developmental Design: Ensuring Wellbeing and Creating Comfort in Learning Environments”. Her background in the medical field as a Certified Nursing Assistant and experience as a Clinical Integration Quality Improvement Specialist gives her deep and unique insight into physical and emotional health and wellbeing, as well as experience in the more technical aspects of project reviews. As a Universal Design and Inclusion specialist, she is trained in evidence-based and inclusive design and is a user expert herself, having disabilities. Mikayla has a deep love of nature and all things biophilic and can be found in her free time gardening with her dogs and ducks in toe at her home in Maine.
